Meet Dawn, a “clean up” artist, and CEO of a large healthcare facility. My initial intent was to tell you her story, but decided that, with her permission, her telling her story in her own words would give you the clearest picture.
I remember as if it were yesterday when she said, “I gotta tell ya, I’m pretty skeptical. I’m not convinced you can help me.” So, I said, “Well, I understand that. So, here’s an idea. How about you give it a chance, we work together a few times, and then you decide if I’m really any help to you.” She agreed to the plan. Below, in her own words, are the results she received from our working together.
A year before meeting Mary Jane, I’d been hired to clean up one of our satellite hospitals and its healthcare clinics. Things needed to change fast and the hospital called on me to solve the problems. As usual, I was fueled by the challenge and soon had made remarkable progress. The result of my effort was massive change for the better in all areas. I accomplished what they’d expected and was ready to move on. That’s when I was confronted by a totally unexpected request – that I stay and become Director of Clinics. Ugh. The climate and service were greatly improved, and the entire operation was much more efficient. However, as you might imagine, my reputation was anything but stellar. People can know that things need to change, but rarely do they appreciate the person who makes immediate changes and enforces those changes.
The new COO took one look at my scores and said, “I’m going get you some help.” That’s where Mary Jane came in. The COO was confident Mary Jane could help me, but, as I said earlier, I wasn’t so sure.
My first meeting with Mary Jane targeted areas such as team play, communication, and leadership. The bottom line, however, was GET THOSE EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT SCORES UP!
In less than 9 months with Mary Jane, my employee engagement scores went from 2.19 to 4.35. Needless to say, the COO was delighted, and I was thrilled. I had some things to learn after all.
Mary Jane’ skill is exceptional. She can take you from someone who lacks essential communication and leadership skills to someone who can lead a corporation. I know because she did it with me.
Mary Jane’s guidance is life-altering.
So why am I telling you this story? Because almost every organization is dealing with supervisors or managers who are receiving less than stellar engagement scores. Unfortunately, the majority of them go on the offensive or defensive – neither reaction helps. I’ve had great success working with individuals in organizations in improving this sensitive situation so that people are proactive and take responsibility for getting better engagement.
In my book, You CAN Teach a Pig to Sing – Create Great Relationships…with Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere, I share the specific strategies I have developed over the years to move people from resistance to receptivity and from anger to accountability. They worked for Dawn, and they can work for you, too.
A friend of mine, Sam Horn, author of several bestselling books, said to me, “You know, Mary Jane, anyone who’s going to have a strategic retreat or a board meeting or an important project meeting should read your book in advance because it’s going to be the best thing they can do to be proactive and ensure that that meeting is productive and gets the results they want instead of getting mired in personality conflicts or drama.”
I thought, “Hey, that’s a great idea!” Therefore, I’m offering a special SPRING SALE, with three options:
